Work status

I am on a hiatus right now as my husband is working towards juris doctorate degree at night in addition to both of us working. I decided to take a break for a little while to see how my time would be effected. Hopefully I will be able to begin taking orders again soon. Thanks for understanding.

I'm thinking PINK!

My cousins' had their baby and it's a GIRL! Baby Lauren decided to come early this weekend just two days before her Mommy's scheduled c-section. Since we didn't know if she was going to be a girl or a boy, we've all been anxiously waiting to find out... And wouldn't you know it, the day it happened was the day that for whatever reason, I was completely out of touch with technology...I didn't log on to facebook and the texts weren't checked on our cell, so baby Lauren came early that morning and at 6:30 that night I received a call from Tonya asking me if I knew that she had a baby. Of course I had no clue! I could have been sewing all afternoon and gone immediately to see her, but oh well.

I am still in the process of setting up my laptop so I have my hard drive, my old laptop hard drive and my new computer that I am searching for designs and fonts. Obviously I need to consolidate the designs but I haven't figured out a good way to organize them. If anyone has a good idea please email me or comment back to me. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions. I'm thinking I may put them in folders by vendor - like "Applique Cafe", "Embroidery Boutique", etc... I'll probably make a fonts folder and then put folders by vendor there too - "Jolson's", "Five Star Fonts", etc... I mentioned this to my husband and he thought that at some point I wouldn't remember who did the design and I wouldn't be able to find what I was looking for, so I just don't know... But finally I found the files I wanted, designed them in sew what pro and then loaded them to my USB drive. Then wouldn't you know, my sewing machine decided to not cooperate at all and it wouldn't allow me to even pick a design on the touch pad to sew. I re-loaded designs, turned the machine off and on, but nothing worked. I was so frustrated! But fortunately I have another machine that actually is my Mom's that has been visiting us for over a year. My Mom is so sweet she bought her own Designer I so that she could sew and do her own appliques but that hasn't happened, mostly because she watches my kids all day - she really is an Angel! I basically use her machine as a backup machine and boy did I appreciate having it Sunday night! I used her machine to sew a quick bib & burp cloth set in pink gingham for baby Lauren. And last night after work I FINALLY got to see her. Don't you just love new baby smell? She is so beautiful and sweet! I took a picture of her with her bib on and since she's just 7 lbs 2 oz, the bib was almost as big as she is... :) We are so excited to welcome her to our family. Hopefully my 2nd machine will allow me to do some more cute things for her while I take my 1st one in to be serviced. I keep hearing that commercial machines aren't as persnickety but I just don't have the cash to shell out for a multi-needle machine, so maybe one day...

I'm so excited for Ken & Tonya - Lauren's just adorable and perfect in everyway! I just love babies, but boy I'm so not ready for another one, so I'll just live vicariously through everyone else having babies. LOL!

  1. I currently have my folders done by digitizer: Embroidery Boutique, Planet Applique, Applique Cafe, etc. It works well for me right now. I haven't forgotten who did a design yet. I've also seen them done by type--but to me that would create many, many folders (animals, summer, etc.)

  2. Thanks! I had started putting designs in by type but then it got quite confusing as some could fit into multiple categories, so I went back to digitizer.
